Early Bracket Breakdowns: Will these trends hold up in the Tourney?
Brackets due NOON EST MONDAY!
But here are some early glimpses of what people are saying.
1) There's no clear hands down favorite - No movie has broken the 15% mark yet - this is usually a strong indicator that it will at least survive to the Finals in the Tournament. People's brackets are surprisingly varied - maybe the most we've ever seen. This suggests people are passionate about the whole genre, and have really varied tastes - not just a fan of a few movies. But let's see if that proves to be true.
2) Exorcist is still getting a lot of love - It came out of the gates early, and has stayed pretty consistent. So far, about 12% of all brackets chose Exorcist as their champ.
3) Conjuring isn't far behind. And they're in the same region. But many of the people who picked one of those, didn't have the other advancing past the first round. So will the Conjuring fans vote for the Exorcist and vice versa?
4) IT, Nightmare, Chainsaw, Saw and Poltergeist are getting a lot of champion votes. That's right. Poltergeist. Most of the experts didn't think that would survive, but so far it's outlasting The Shining, which in underperforming early expectations.
(note - Saw and Texas Chainsaw are running close to even - which says something. We think.....)
This can, and probably will change by tomorrow when the Tourney Starts. But we will update you with the latest when the results get finalized.
